Differential diagnostics and prediction of cognitive decline in Alzheimer’s disease and Lewy body dementias<\/h3>\n

Warm congrats to our colleague Erika Bereczki who was appointed associate professor (docent) at Karolinska Institutet (KI) earlier this year, and who was one of the promoted academics acknowledged at the traditional summer luncheon of KI’s Neurobiology, Care Sciences and Society Department on 18 June.<\/p>\n

Erika presented her research which focuses on mechanisms and consequences of the main neuropathological hallmarks of dementia: amyloid plaques, tau hyper-phosphorylation, and neuronal loss. Her current projects aim to improve differential diagnostics and prediction of cognitive decline in Alzheimer’s disease and Lewy body dementias, and include particular work on the role of synaptic proteins in dementia progression.<\/p>\n
